Dedicated to Captain Millard Dow, Jennie (Parker) Dow, their ancestors, and descendants

“The mates are very good to the children and bring them candy when they go ashore.”

Amsterdam, January 12, 1897
Jennie (Parker) Dow

Rooted in Penobscot Bay

The Dows and Parkers first settled in Maine in the early 19th century. They were sea captains, teachers, housewrights, ship builders, and served in local government. After a career at sea, Capt. Millard Dow and his wife Jennie left behind a treasure trove of letters, artifacts, and photographs from their families and travels. Handed down among their many descendants, we are gathering these together here to tell their story.
